On the evening of May 7, 2026, Northumberland County Public Schools gathered for a heartfelt Teacher of the Year and Retirement Dinner. It was a truly special milestone during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, providing us a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible dedication of our educators and staff.
The night was filled with:

We officially honored our Division Teacher of the Year, Brantley Swift and bid a fond farewell to our newest retirees. To those embarking on their next chapter: thank you for the decades of wisdom, patience, and love you poured into our students. Your legacy is woven into the fabric of this community.
A truly unforgettable moment of the evening was the powerful speech delivered by our Division Teacher of the Year, Brantley Swift.
In her address on "Why I Teach," Brantley reminded us all that education is more than just a profession—it is a calling rooted in hope, resilience, and the belief in every student's potential. Her words didn't just fill the room; they refueled our collective passion and reminded us why we show up for our students every single day.

Out of an abundance of caution, all Northumberland County Public Schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, March 16, 2026 due to the threat of severe weather.
Stay safe, stay dry, and maybe sleep in a little… I know I will. 🐱
