A giant THANK YOU to our amazing custodial team! They are working hard in the summer to strip and wax our classroom and office floors. The library and office rugs are being shampooed. This job takes a ton of heavy lifting, time, and care. They are making sure our rooms shine bright and are perfectly ready for the next school year.
We appreciate your sweat and dedication to our school! 🏫✨#IndianPride

The School Board will enter into a closed meeting at 4:30 PM after an affirmative recorded vote in an open meeting approving a motion that (i) identifies the subject matter, (ii) states the purpose of the meeting as authorized in subsection A of 2.2-3711 or other provision of law and (iii) cites the applicable exemption from open meeting requirements provided in subsection A of 2.2-3711 or other provision of law. On the evening of May 7, 2026, Northumberland County Public Schools gathered for a heartfelt Teacher of the Year and Retirement Dinner. It was a truly special milestone during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, providing us a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible dedication of our educators and staff.
The night was filled with:
Delicious Food: A feast shared among friends and colleagues.
Music & Fun: A lively atmosphere that kept spirits high.
Unity: A powerful reminder of the strength we have when we support one another.
🏆 Celebrating Excellence and Legacy
We officially honored our Division Teacher of the Year, Brantley Swift and bid a fond farewell to our newest retirees. To those embarking on their next chapter: thank you for the decades of wisdom, patience, and love you poured into our students. Your legacy is woven into the fabric of this community.
A truly unforgettable moment of the evening was the powerful speech delivered by our Division Teacher of the Year, Brantley Swift.
In her address on "Why I Teach," Brantley reminded us all that education is more than just a profession—it is a calling rooted in hope, resilience, and the belief in every student's potential. Her words didn't just fill the room; they refueled our collective passion and reminded us why we show up for our students every single day.
