Big news on the playground front!
Rain or shine, our incredible site team has been hard at work making magic happen for our students! Despite all the soggy weather, progress hasn't stopped:
Underground Drainage: Done! The beneath-the-surface drainage is officially in place to keep our play area dry for future playtime.
Equipment Footings: Concrete footings are being set to anchor all the fun stuff coming soon!
Poured-in-Place Rubber Substrate: Next up, the PIP rubber turf will be poured directly over the footings and poles to create a safe, cushiony seal for our students.
It’s fair to say we’ve had plenty of "ground saturation" from all the rain, but we haven't had the official Groundbreaking yet due to all the mud! The School Board "digs in" for the official Groundbreaking this coming Monday to celebrate this major milestone.
If you come by the school at any time, please share some support to the hardworking crew on site! They’re doing an awesome job!

The rain today may have dampened the ground, but it certainly hasn't dampened our spirits!
Our incredibly dedicated construction team is hard at work today pushing forward with the demolition of the old playground. Rain or shine, this crew is making sure progress doesn't stop!
That said, the School Board has decided to reschedule our official groundbreaking until tomorrow, weather permitting. As much as we love enthusiasm, today's event would have been more of a puddle-breaking than a ground-breaking!
Have no fear though, the heavy lifting is still actively underway, and big things are happening on site. Stay tuned for updates, but grab your boots just in case.

Going, going…almost gone!
Phase I of our new playground is officially underway as demolition began today! Weather permitting, the School Board will officially break ground on construction tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
We can’t wait to invite our families and community in to celebrate with everyone at a dedication and opening ceremony once Phase I wraps up in the first few weeks of October. If the weather stays on our side, we are also hoping to get Phase II completed before it turns too cold! Stay tuned!

The School Board will enter into a closed meeting at 4:30 PM after an affirmative recorded vote in an open meeting approving a motion that (i) identifies the subject matter, (ii) states the purpose of the meeting as authorized in subsection A of 2.2-3711 or other provision of law and (iii) cites the applicable exemption from open meeting requirements provided in subsection A of 2.2-3711 or other provision of law.
