Partnering Schools

The Northumberland County Public Schools partners with two institutions that provide enrichment opportunities and career education for students who have an interest in pursuing specialized studies:

Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School for Marine and Environmental Science (CBGS)

CBGS offers students of high ability an opportunity to pursue a rigorous curriculum of science, mathematics, technology and research centered on the marine and environmental sciences. Enrichment, exploratory and investigative opportunities supplement classroom instruction and prepare students for further study in a wide array of academic and professional disciplines.


Northern Neck Technical Center (NNTC)

The NNTC, located in Warsaw, provides technical education in ten career fields. High-school students from six districts on the Northern Neck attend classes at the NNTC for part of each school day and receive instruction at their home school during the remainder of the school day. NNTC also runs a STEM Academy which provides focused educational opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Students may apply for admission to NNTC or the STEM Academy.


Virtual Learning Opportunities in Northumberland County

As a program of the Virginia Department of Education, Virtual Virginia (VVA) offers online Advanced Placement (AP®), world language, core academic, and elective courses to students throughout the Commonwealth and nation. VVA is committed to providing high-quality, rigorous course content with the flexibility to meet schools’ and students’ varied schedules.
