This course will relate the history of the U.S. from the time period of the westward movement to the present day.  Students will learn concepts in civics, economics, and geography in the context of U.S. History.  Simulations, class debates, skits, or other techniques will be used to help students achieve this goal.  Map and globe skills are also integrated to  increase an understanding of history.

*Required materials: 3 ring binder, pens, loose leaf paper, agenda, textbook, and colored pencils or markers.!

Expectations

The students should have a section in their notebooks for English and should also have a black/white composition notebook.  All work is expected to be completed and turned in on time.  I will take grades on quizzes, tests, class work, and homework assignments

This course specializes in comparing and contrasting a collection of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry forms of literature; understanding the structure and components which make up a short story or novel and using a wide variety of vocabulary.  Students will also learn the art of public speaking using verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors.
