
SIXTH GRADE TEAM
Policies and Procedures
Rules
·
Students are
expected to follow all school rules.
·
Classroom
rules include:
Be prepared and on time.
Be attentive and polite.
Keep hands, feet, and
objects to yourself.
Be respectful of property
and to everyone at NMS.
Agendas
·
Parents are
expected to check and sign the students’ agendas daily. Agendas will be checked
for signatures to see that assignments are recorded.
·
Agendas
include each student’s hall pass.
·
Reward tickets
will be given for signatures and correct recording.
Rewards
·
We will create
groups to compete with each other in areas to include attendance, academics,
positive behaviors, and intramural games throughout the year.
·
Tickets will
be given by teachers for positive academic behaviors and may be cashed in on
assigned days for prizes, passes, and points. There will be a monthly drawing
container for larger prizes.
·
The sixth
grade school store will generate money to help with field trip costs and reward
activities.
·
Tribal bucks
will be given for appropriate behaviors in and around the classroom.
Consequences of Inappropriate Behavior
·
Inappropriate
classroom behavior will result in the following consequences:
-verbal warning and name
taken
-intervention form will be
sent home
-team conference
-office referral
Consequences of Inappropriate Behavior (cont.)
·
Lunch
detention will be given for disruptive behavior and chewing gum.
·
Three lunch
detentions in a 9 week period will result in an intervention form sent home and
a conference with the principal or assistant principal. Two more lunch
detentions following the conference will result in a day of ISS.
Grading Policy (May vary by teacher)
·
Tests and
projects normally count as double grades.
·
Daily class
assignments, quizzes, and homework averages count once.
·
Students earn
a quiz grade of 100 for attempting all homework assignments.
·
Five points
will be deducted from the 100 average for each missing homework assignment.
Field Trip Policy
·
Proper
behavior at school is a prerequisite for attending field trips.
·
Any student
receiving OSS (out of school suspension) or 2 days of ISS (in-school suspension)
will be excluded from the trip following the suspension(s).
Team T-Shirts
·
Students will
be asked to purchase a Team T-shirt for $5.00 for the purpose of team support
and easy identification on field trips.
