A. Course overview 1. Family and consumer science - offerings, which prepare students for marketable skills, related to Home Economics, with emphasis on Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles. B. Grading policy Tests, quizzes, homework, classwork are all graded equally. Individual projects (garments, foods work) may count 25% or more because of the amount of time spent on these projects. Students will also be given a "Maturity Grade" every 2 weeks. 3 unexcused absences will cause a student to fail for the nine weeks. Semester 10 day rule: If a student misses 10 days from school during a semester, after the 11th day the student will automatically fail for that semester or they may stay after school and make up the time. They will have one week from the time they were absent to make up for the day they missed. If 12 days are missed they will makeup a second day, etc. C. Tardy Policy Students will be in their seats with supplies and ready to work when the bell rings. The penalty will consist of 4 points being deducted from the students maturity grade every day along with the school policy that 3 unexcused tardies = 1 unexcused absence per 9 weeks. D.
